Bio
Dance
Masha (she/her) is a Ukrainian-born dance artist and entrepreneur who grew up in Vancouver, Canada. She graduated from Canada's National Ballet School in 2016, where she received the Peter Dwyer Award for Excellence in Dance in her final year. She spent a year training and performing with the San Francisco Ballet School and Company until 2017. Throughout her dance education and professional experience, Masha has worked with Peggy Baker, Peter Bingham, Sorella Englund, Joysanne Sidimus, Kevin Haigen, Patrick Armand, Ernst Meisner, and performed works by John Neumier, George Balanchine, William Forsyth and various other classical works.
Masha is a certified yoga instructor and personal trainer as well as a dance instructor to children and adults. She brings a sense of mindfulness, creative movement, improvisation and anatomical knowledge for injury prevention into each of her classes. Masha has recently delved into more creative contemporary choreography for film and performance. She is looking for opportunities to expand this side of her creative practice in group works. Currently her choreographic works include the following solos: ‘Woman’ (2021) ‘Collider (2023), ‘Ritual’ (2023) and ‘Vesna’ (2023).
Most recently, Masha completed the scholarship program at EDAM for Contact Improvisation under the direction of Peter Bingham in April 2023. She is currently freelance dancing with Chaos Emblematic and remotely running her company Mind Moves. Masha is interested in closing the gap between the accessibility to create and pursue art and the resources available to do so for artists. She is a strong advocate for bridging business with the arts without sacrificing the creative vision of artists.
